Mauricio Jara is a professional handbalancer from Costa Rica, who has dedicated most of his years to the study and practice of handstands. He began as a floor acrobat, and did one year of competitive gymnastics before starting his journey in the handstand discipline. He was a pioneer handstand specialist in Costa Rica, were he developed his own method of training, and starting teaching handstands as a main discipline.He started his circus activity in 2014 with a contemporary circus company called Punto Muerto.  In 2016 he traveled to Europe to continue his training starting with handstand teacher like Claude Victoria. He has collaborated with many circus companies and festival over the years, is currently an active circus artist, always trying to expand for new ideas, concepts, and knowledge that students can benefit from.Since 2018 Mauricio has been working as a teacher at  the Instituto Nacional de Artes do Circo in Portugal, and as a guest teacher in Fontys Circus and Performance Art in Tilburg, Netherlands. He continues his journey both performing and teaching handstands as a main discipline. IG: @maujara
